When I work with very high-level leaders, sooner or later we arrive at the same place: the relationship they have with themselves. You can have a flawless résumé and still carry an inner voice telling you it’s not enough.
The root, not the branch
Many problems that look external —procrastination, difficulty setting boundaries, the need for approval— share the same root: a self-esteem built on what we do instead of who we are.
Rebuilding from within
- Watch your inner dialogue. Would you speak that way to someone you love?
- Separate your worth from your performance. You matter even when the quarter went badly.
- Keep small promises to yourself. Self-trust is built on evidence.
Self-esteem isn’t ego. It’s the calm foundation from which a leader can take risks, make mistakes and try again without falling apart.
